IMG Client & Golf Legend Colin Montgomerie Releases New Book, Monty: The Autobiography

Colin Montgomerie is a golfing legend. Ranked Europe’s number one golfer for an unparalleled seven years in a row, he is equally renowned as a player of great passion. The son of a keen Scottish golfing family, Colin was already showing his prodigious talent as a small boy. After completing his education in America where he benefited from a golf scholarship, Colin turned professional in 1987, beginning a truly remarkable career. Even with over forty international tournament victories and eight European Order of Merit titles, Monty is best known for his amazing contributions to the European Ryder Cup team; eight times as a player and undefeated in singles, and most recently, as the victorious 2010 European Ryder Cup Captain.

Montgomerie’s autobiography is the story of both a prodigious talent and complex personality who at forty-seven remains determined to add to his already impressive achievements. It is a book about one of the greatest golfing characters in the world trying to achieve the necessary personal and professional balance. And it is about the hero of the Ryder Cup – five times a winner, culminating in victory as team captain and the unforgettable scenes at Celtic Manor in October 2010.

Business Keynote Speaker Jason Jennings Releases New Book, THE REINVENTORS

In THE REINVENTORS: How Extraordinary Companies Pursue Radical Continuous Change (Portfolio; May 10, 2012) bestselling author Jason Jennings explores the most urgent question facing every company today: how do you continually adapt, grow and stay vital when the rules of the game always change?

Shockingly, almost two thirds of the top twenty five companies in the Fortune 500 in the year 2000 fell off the list by the year 2010. Why? Because once profitable companies like Blockbuster, Kmart, and EMI commit suicide with the attitude of “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

Other companies, “the reinventors,” achieve continuous growth by mastering the art of embracing constant change. It’s the only way to stay ahead of the ever shifting wants and needs of customers. It’s the only way to survive and thrive.

After researching 22,000 articles and doing interviews at 100 companies, Jennings and his team selected some of the best reinventor companies, verified their success, went inside, and learned how they pursue never-ending radical change.

JASON JENNINGS is the bestselling author of It’s Not the Big That Eat the Small—It’s the Fast That Eat the Slow; Less Is More; Think Big, Act Small; and Hit the Ground Running. USA Today named him one of the three most in-demand business speakers in the world. He began his career as a radio and television reporter and has appeared on numerous shows. He lives between Tiburon, California (near San Francisco), and Timber Rock Shore in Michigan.

IMG Speakers Bureau News: Legendary Author Frank Deford Releases New Book: Over Time: My Life as a Sportswriter

From Amazon.com:

Over Time: My Life as a Sportswriter is as unconventional and wide-ranging as Frank Deford’s remarkable career, in which he has chronicled the heroes and the characters of just about every sport in nearly every medium. Deford joined Sports Illustrated in 1962, fresh, and fresh out of Princeton. In 1990, he was Editor-in-Chief of The National Sports Daily, one of the most ambitious—and ill-fated—projects in the history of American print journalism. But then, he’s endured: writing ten novels, winning an Emmy (not to mention being a fabled Lite Beer All-Star), and last week he read something like his fourteen-hundredth commentary on NPR’s “Morning Edition.”

From the Mad Men-like days of SI in the ‘60s, and the “bush” years of the early NBA, to Deford’s visit to apartheid South Africa with Arthur Ashe, and his friend’s brave and tragic death, Over Time is packed with intriguing people and stories. Interwoven through his personal history, Deford lovingly traces the entire arc of American sportswriting from the lurid early days of the Police Gazette, through Grantland Rice and Red Smith and on up to ESPN. This is a wonderful, inspired book—equal parts funny and touching—a treasure for sports fans.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sign Rutgers Defensive Tackle Eric LeGrand

From ESPN.com:

TAMPA, Fla. — In a symbolic gesture, the Tampa  Bay Buccaneers signed Rutgers defensive tackle Eric LeGrand, whose career was ended by a spinal cord injury, on Wednesday morning.

LeGrand played for Tampa Bay coach Greg Schiano at Rutgers. In an Oct. 16, 2010 game against Army, LeGrand suffered fractures of two vertebrae and a spinal cord injury.

LeGrand initially was told he would be a quadriplegic and would have to remain on a ventilator. Five weeks later, LeGrand began breathing on his own. Later, he became able to stand upright with the aid of a metal frame.

LeGrand resumed his studies last spring. He led the Scarlet Knights onto the field for an Oct. 29, 2011 game and has remained very close with Schiano.

“Leading up to the draft, I couldn’t help but think that this should’ve been Eric’s draft class,” Schiano said. “This small gesture is the least we could do to recognize his character, spirit and perseverance. The way Eric lives his life epitomizes what we are looking for in Buccaneer Men.”

The Bucs also decided to make the signing on May 2, to symbolize LeGrand’s college number (52).  LeGrand is planning to graduate next fall with a degree in labor studies.
