Colin Montgomerie is a golfing legend. Ranked Europe’s number one golfer for an unparalleled seven years in a row, he is equally renowned as a player of great passion. The son of a keen Scottish golfing family, Colin was already showing his prodigious talent as a small boy. After completing his education in America where he benefited from a golf scholarship, Colin turned professional in 1987, beginning a truly remarkable career. Even with over forty international tournament victories and eight European Order of Merit titles, Monty is best known for his amazing contributions to the European Ryder Cup team; eight times as a player and undefeated in singles, and most recently, as the victorious 2010 European Ryder Cup Captain.

Montgomerie’s autobiography is the story of both a prodigious talent and complex personality who at forty-seven remains determined to add to his already impressive achievements. It is a book about one of the greatest golfing characters in the world trying to achieve the necessary personal and professional balance. And it is about the hero of the Ryder Cup – five times a winner, culminating in victory as team captain and the unforgettable scenes at Celtic Manor in October 2010.

IMG Speakers Bureau Client Victor Cruz To Release Book In July

Victor Cruz, New York Giants’ NFL Super Bowl champion, will be releasing his book Out of the Blue on July 17th.  Cruz says he’s excited about sharing his story: “I want people to know there’s a lot more to me than the salsa dance and the Super Bowl.”

“It may seem like I came out of the blue. But, my road was long, windy, full of hurdles, and even some dead ends. I lost family. I lost friends. I even lost my way. When I reached what felt like rock bottom, I realized I had a responsibility to everyone who believed in me and to kids, like me, who just needed a chance and something to believe in.”—from the epilogue of Out of the Blue

The book will include the highs and lows of his life — his spotty college career and rocky road to professional football (he was undrafted), his father’s suicide and his recent triumphs. The book comes with “an action poster” of Cruz on the field.

According to the latest polls conducted by Nielsen Media Research and E-Poll Market Research, fans have chosen Peyton Manning (#3) and Eli Manning (#9) as two of the ‘most influential athletes’ in sports today.   Approximately 1,100 US adults were surveyed about dozens of well-known athletes to measure their likeability and whether they’re considered “influential,” an important quality for marketers.

Kyle Petty sets out on the 18th Annual Kyle Petty Charity Ride

On April 28,  IMG client Kyle Petty sets out on his 18th Annual Kyle Petty Charity Ride. Over 175 motorcycle riders will travel from Napa, California, winding more then 2,500 miles, and will finish at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth on May 4. Along for the journey will be IMG Speakers client, Herschel Walker, who will be participating in his 7th ride.

The Kyle Petty Charity Ride will raise money for Victory Junction (www.victoryjunction.org). Founded by the Petty family, Victory Junction is a year-round camp created to enrich the lives of children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses. To date the Charity Ride has donated more the $14.5 million.

Thomas Björn and Joe Montana Win The Inaugural Bahrain Invitational Golf Tournament

IMG clients Thomas Björn and Joe Montana have won the inaugural Bahrain Invitational, played this past weekend at the Royal Golf Club in Riffa, Bahrain.

The Bahrain Invitational featured four of Europe’s most respected professional golfers, including Paul Casey, Thomas Björn, Colin Montgomerie and Suzann Pettersen as well as sporting legends Tim Henman, Joe Montana, Gianluca Vialli and Ruud Gullit.

The two-day Bahrain Invitational tournament was hosted by the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB) and the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC).

After 14 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, Peyton Manning officially became a Denver Bronco on March 20th, 2012.

Manning brings an impressive resume to Denver. For his career, Manning has accumulated 141 wins — fourth-most all time by a starting quarterback — while leading his team to 11 seasons with double-digit victories. The four-time NFL MVP ranks third in league history in passing yards, completions and touchdowns, and has a Super Bowl title and Super Bowl MVP under his belt.
